“I was fire and flame … to be a missionary with a definite goal in view, filling an unfilled need which only women could fill … I was determined to become a mission doctor … doing something that only women could do for suffering women.” (Anna Dengel) Inspired by this vision, the Tyrolean physician Dr Anna Dengel founded the Medical Mission Sisters in 1925. Today, the congregation comprises around 500 sisters and associate members who live out our global mission. Together with many others, they carry on the healing charism to help build a future worth living for all. From September 2024 until the 100th anniversary on 30 September 2025, celebrations took place around the world to mark the centenary of our Society. We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the festive celebrations on site, everyone who supported us with prayers and good wishes, and everyone who donated to our projects.
