The city pilgrimage in May was held under the theme ‘Listening ... go!’ and took the approximately 25 pilgrims through the Berlin districts of Schöneberg and Wilmersdorf.
As is usual on these city pilgrimages, there were small stations along the way at places that were either obviously or subtly connected to the theme.
The commemorative plaque “1938: Jews must hand in their radio sets” was used for a brief reflection and prayer, as were the Liberty Bell at Schöneberg Town Hall, the magic playground in Volkspark and the sundial at the roundabout.
The destination of the pilgrimage was St Gertrauden Hospital, where Sr Christine von Tils works as a pastoral carer. In her sharing, she spoke of her experiences of listening and being present with the people in the hospital.
The event concluded with a short time of prayer in the hospital chapel.
